The Challenge

History is not just a collection of dates; it is a collection of stories. In the film The Book Thief, we see how words can be a form of resistance when the world tries to burn them away. Your task is to explore the relationship between destruction (book burning) and remembrance (memorials) to understand why preserving memory is vital for our future. The due date is 31st MARCH 2026.

Choose Your Focus

Select one of the following themes to anchor your project:

Analyze how The Book Thief film portrays the importance of literature and literacy during World War II.

Research the "Book Burning" phenomenon (historical or modern). Why do regimes target books, and what is the lasting impact?

Investigate memorials (either globally or right here in our city). How do these physical sites help a society "never forget"?

Choose Your Medium

You may work alone or in pairs. Select the format that best showcases your strengths:

Essay: A deep-dive written analysis (approx. 1.000 words).

Video: A 3–5 minute video, cinematic trailer, or mini-documentary.

Presentation: A visual PowerPoint or Canva presentation for the class.

Podcast: A 5–10 minute audio episode featuring a narrative discussion or a scripted interview.

The Role of AI & Digital Tools

You are encouraged to use digital tools (Canva, ChatGPT, Gemini, NotebookLM, Skywork, etc.) to polish your work.

AI Policy: You may use AI to brainstorm outlines, generate specific images, or check your grammar.

!!!!! The Limit: The core analysis and "voice" must be yours. AI cannot be the only creator. You must include a brief "Process Note" explaining exactly how you used AI in your project.

Evaluation Criteria

Depth of Research: How well did you investigate the history or the film?

Critical Thinking: Did you explain why these themes matter today?

Originality: Is your creative voice present, even if you used digital aids?

Ethical Use: Did you cite your sources and explain your AI use clearly?
