• Activate MindMup 2.0, a Google Chrome extension, and complete the nodes of the shared Addiction Mind Map as follows:
  Group 1: Causes,
  Group 2: Addictive substances and behaviors,
  Group 3: Factors worsening the problem.
  (Alternatively, you can create a similar mind map in your eclass (Mind Map 2) with the same nodes and save it as a document in the Document Directory: Unit 5 (Unit 5: Addictions). In any case, you must complete the task by answering the following 3 questions:

1. How can addictions be caused?
2. Which substances and behaviours could be addictive?
3. What can make the problem even more difficult?

• Take 6 minutes to listen to a BBC radio talk (Radio Talk on p. 67 / U5_67_T3_Addictions_BBC Radio Talk in eclass) and keep notes concerning the topic and its main points. The following questions can help you:
  • What is the topic of the talk?
  • What do statistics indicate?
  • Why do people develop such an addiction?
  • What are the dangers mentioned?

• Then take 14 minutes and work in groups to complete the tasks below: 
  • Group 1: With the help of your notes find the main things mentioned in the talk and use key-words to report them. Then use WordArt, a Web 2.0 tool, to make a word cloud with these key-words.
  • Group 2: With the help of your notes write an article meant to be posted in your eTwinning blog so that your partners can be informed about that discussion. Use a shared Google word processor to collaborate with the other members of the group.
  • Group 3: Using the notes and the Web 2.0 tool ThingLink create an interactive image with all the things one should know about the topic of the talk.
  • Group 4: Have a look at your notes. Find information about alcohol addiction on the internet. Compare the addiction discussed in the talk with the one to alcohol. Use PowerPoint to draw a Venn diagram which will show the similarities and the differences of these two addictions.   • Group 5: With the help of your notes and Google Forms prepare a survey questionnaire about the addiction discussed. As soon as you have completed this task, ask peers to take part in the survey. Use Google Slides to present the results in the plenary.

In this lesson, we will be looking at expressions that need a subject-verb inversion, e.g. 'so', 'neither', 'seldom', 'not only' and 'no sooner', and also inversions in Conditional sentences.
